Ryans Cleaning & Limerick Neonatal Unit - small

Every year the team at Ryans Cleaning chose a charity to raise funds for and this year we are delighted to announce Limerick Neonatal Unit has been selected. Limerick Neonatal Unit at the Regional Maternity Hospital has 19 cots providing Intensive Neonatal Care, High Dependency Care and Special Care for approximately 1,000 babies per year. This charity is very close to our hearts as we have witnessed the great work they do first-hand. Here’s our story, how you can help and win yourself a great prize too!

On the 18th June 2015, our dear colleague Catriona Fahey went into pre-term labour at just 30 weeks, needless to say this was a really worrying time for Catriona, her family and colleagues here at Ryans Cleaning.

Baby Caitlin weighed just 3 pounds 2 ounces and was immediately rushed to neonatal intensive care at Regional Maternity Hospital. The team at the Limerick Neonatal Unit worked tirelessly on little Caitlin to help her tiny lungs and premature body to strengthen and develop in the hope of giving her every chance of survival. It is without a doubt that, the care and attention Caitlin received was world class and the nurturing that everyone who nursed her gave her was truly remarkable. Thankfully she responded with the same courage and determination we all respect so much in her mum Catriona and after 58 days in the Limerick Neonatal Unit Caitlin was discharged and went home with her mum and dad and hasn’t looked back since.

Speaking of the charity Catriona commented “Apart from the amazing medical and practical work they did on Caitlin, there are without a doubt so many other actions we are grateful to Limerick Neonatal Unit for. Simple things spring to mind, like the many nights a kind nurse put the kettle on when we were wilting before her eyes or made up a bed so one of us could spend the night with our little girl when things were at a critical stage, my husband and I will be eternally grateful for the kindness and support we received along the way. We would like to take this opportunity to thank my colleagues and the management here at Ryans Cleaning for their unwavering support during that difficult time. Now with this fundraising announcement, we are just so grateful to be able to say thank you and make a real difference to other families by supporting this great charity. Thanks folks, it means more than you will ever know.”

In honour of this gorgeous little girl and the support she received in those early weeks of life, we will be running various fundraising campaigns over the coming months and all funds raised will go to Limerick Neonatal Unit Fund at the end of the year.

We have an amazing prize to give away to help us raise some much needed funds for the Limerick Neonatal Unit Fund and to enter all you have to do is simply make a donation, anything you can spare, on our Go Fund Me page and the winner will get a pair of Summer Bundles passes, thanks to our friends at Leopardstown Racecourse.
